This section is specifically designed for you!! The age at which you start wearing makeup depends on your agreement with your parents.

A great place to begin your makeup routine is to go with your mom or older sister to a makeup counter or makeup store. I know you probably love getting into your mom’s or older sister’s makeup!! It is very tempting to try everything all at once and want to look older and find your unique look. Just be careful not to put too much on.

To be as straight-forward as possible teens, in general, do not need a lot of foundation unless you need to cover some blemishes or acne. Young skin should look fresh and dewy…..not caked and powdery.

For starters, try tinted moisturizers instead of powder foundations or other foundations. You really don’t need them.

I know you look to your friends and magazines for inspiration. Just keep in mind that the models on the magazines are heavily airbrushed and retouched before being published in a magazine.

What does this mean? From first-hand experience, I can tell you that if you meet some of these models or actors in person, they might not be as flawless as you think. The magazines, movies, television, or whatever other form of media are creating more of a fantasy look, which is not reality. They need to sell a product and perfection sells.

Foundation colors - What is right for me?

The only reason you really need more foundation or concealer is when you need to cover acne or blemishes.

Take a look at the undertones of your skin, is it pink, yellow or olive?

Is your blemish red or brown?? It is usually best to pick a concealer that is more on the yellow or peach/orange side. These colors balance out the purples and reds that are in blemishes.

Quick Tip: Be careful not to pick a color to light…..otherwise it will stand out instead of being covered.
