Cleaning your Makeup Brushes Check out the "Why" and the "How To"
How many of you girls have had the opportunity to paint a room in your house or apartment? I know I have. You get excited. You pick out a color you like. You then buy the paint, the paint brushes, the rollers, etc. You've invited some friends over to help you get started. Now you're ready to go...... One problem. Now that you've put some of the paint on the wall, you can tell that your shade is off and it's not going to look like you envisioned it. What do you do? You go back to the paint store and get your new color....Perfect. Quick question: Now that you have your color, do you just take the paint brushes that you just used a couple hours ago that have dried up and just dip it into the new paint?? I know it's a silly question, but the reason I say this is that many of us, including me when I was younger, do exactly just that with our makeup brushes. Why is it the same? and What can I do about it?
• Makeup Brushes: Why do I need to clean them?

The bottom line is that brushes gather oils and dust particles from makeup and your face. So, if you don't clean them: (1) The colors won't go on smoothly and (2) The oils on top of the brushes become a layer and it won't pick up the product the way it's supposed to. You need to clean your brushes at least once a week if you use your brushes daily. I know what you are thinking, “once a week?” Who has the time for that?? But, how many times have you pulled out your dusty, misshaped blush brush out of your purse and tried to put blush on your cheeks….but it just didn’t seem to go on properly?? Or putting on eyeshadow with brushes that look like wild branches?? Put it to the test, try washing your brushes tonight and see what the results are in the morning. I know you will be quite pleased!
• Makeup Brushes: How do I keep them clean?

So “How” do I wash my brushes you ask…..well, there are a few ways to do it. One way is that you can purchase great brush cleaners that are designed to disinfect and condition the hairs of your brush. Another way to clean your brush is to wash them with your shampoo weekly.
1. Put a little bit of shampoo and water in your sink with your brushes. 2. Then rinse thoroughly and reshape the brush without pulling the hairs. 3. Let them air dry flat on your countertop overnight. 4. When dry, store your brushes in a cool brush holder or makeup case.
